## Transitioning from iOS to Android made simple
Have you just fallen for the latest **Samsung Galaxy**, but your previous phone was an iPhone or iPad? Don't panic: switching between iOS and Android is no longer the headache it used to be.
Today, the **MediaStreet** team explains in detail how to successfully complete this data transfer using the official **Samsung Smart Switch** app, while avoiding common pitfalls!
1. Before you start: 3 essential prerequisites
Perform these settings on your iPhone to avoid any roadblocks or data loss:
- ✓Disable iMessage: Go to Settings > Messages and turn off iMessage (prevents SMS sent by iPhone contacts from arriving on your old phone).
- ✓Download your full-resolution photos: Go to Settings > Apps > Photos and check « Download and Keep Originals ».
- ✓Back up your WhatsApp chats: In WhatsApp, go to Settings > Chats > Chat Backup and run a manual backup.
> ℹ️ **Good to know:** For security reasons, the **Apple Keychain** (your saved passwords) cannot be transferred to Android. Apple-exclusive apps (like Apple Music) do not migrate directly, but their Android equivalents can be automatically downloaded from the Play Store.

2. Method 1: Transfer via Cable (The fastest method)
This is the technique recommended by our MediaStreet technicians for its speed and stability:
- Turn on your new Samsung Galaxy and begin the initial setup.
- When prompted to copy your data, select « iPhone® or iPad® ».
- Connect both devices using a suitable cable (USB-C to Lightning or USB-C to USB-C).
- Tap « Trust This Computer » on the iPhone screen.
- Select the data you want to transfer (contacts, photos, videos, messages...) and start the process.

3. Method 2: Wireless Transfer
Don't have a cable handy? The transfer can also be done over Wi-Fi:
- Download the Samsung Smart Switch app from the App Store on your iPhone.
- On the new Galaxy, choose the « Wireless » method during setup.
- Open Smart Switch on the iPhone, grant permissions, and tap « Wireless » (or scan the QR code).
- Select the content you want to keep and launch the copy process.
## 4. The final touch: Retrieve iCloud & Customize
During or right after the transfer, Smart Switch offers two very handy options:
* **Import from iCloud:** If you have documents stored exclusively on Apple servers, you can sign in to your Apple account directly in Smart Switch to retrieve everything.
* **Keep your habits:** The tool even adjusts display settings, keyboard layout, and the navigation bar so you don't feel disoriented during your first minutes on Android.
Can I transfer my WhatsApp chats from an iPhone to a Samsung?
Yes! During the Smart Switch cable process, a QR code will appear. Scan it with your iPhone to transfer all your WhatsApp chats and media directly to your Galaxy.
What if I stop receiving SMS messages from my iPhone contacts?
This means iMessage wasn't turned off before the transfer. On your old iPhone, go to Settings > Messages and disable iMessage (or use Apple's online deregistration tool).
